ELEN OF THE WAYS

Guidance on the Path

“Elen of the Ways” is an ancient Celtic goddess depicted with deer antlers. It is believed that she dates back to the Paleolithic times of the old stone age. She has been guiding people on their path for thousands of years. If you draw or are drawn to this card you may be having trouble deciding which direction to take your life. You may need some guidance from this ancient and wise goddess as to the correct path to take.  In this image she is depicted at Winter Solstice where the days are dark but a guiding light illuminates the way.

PRACTICE OPPORTUNITY

Sitting with your journal bring to mind a situation where you need to decide which path to take. You might want to draw three or more pathways and label the options. You could write down the pros and cons of each option. Ground and center yourself and call in Elen of the Ways and your other spirit helpers for guidance. Ask for guidance and wait for any images, words or bodily sensations that point you in the right direction. If you get some images, draw them on your paper, weather you understand their meaning right now or not. You may get some guidance now, or it may come in the next few days as an intuition or dream message.

STORIES OF THE GODDESS

In ancient times some of the paths that Elen followed were the ancient lay lines that connected power points in the earth, indicating her deep connection to the sacred earth. Sometimes she would shape-shift into the form of a reindeer, the only species of deer in which the females have antlers. In this form she could lead you through a dark forest on a narrow deer trail to your destination. She would guide seekers on both their physical journey and their spiritual journey, using the stars at night to guide the way.
