SELENE
Moon goddess, Intuition
Selene was the Greek goddess of the moon. While the Sun governs our conscious self and the ego, the moon illuminates our inner world, emotions and most importantly, our intuition. Imagine the moon as the cosmic conductor of your subconscious, orchestrating the subtle symphony of instincts, intuitions and feelings that guide you through life. If you draw or are drawn to this card it may be time to slow down and listen to your intuition more. Our spirit guides and cosmic allies are always watching over us, and giving us bits of guidance on a regular basis. We need to learn to ask for this guidance more often, and after asking deeply listen for nudges, impulses or gut feelings that point us in the right direction.
PRACTICE OPPORTUNITY:
On a full moon night take some time to gaze at the moon for quite some time. Let the light of the moon stimulate and activate your third eye. If you don’t want to wait until the moon is full you can use a candle or any light source for this practice. Ask yourself a question about something that is unresolved in your life. You might get a picture image or intuitive answer as you are gazing at the light, or you might have to wait for a few days until you get that gut feeling. Part of the practice is discerning the difference between the chatter of your mind and that deeper knowing.
STORIES OF THE GODDESS:
In the ancient Greek literature of Homer Selene is praised for her mysterious beauty. From her immortal head a radiance shines from heaven and embraces earth; and great is the beauty that arises from her shining light. The air glows with the light of her golden crown, and her rays beam clear. Selene bathes her lovely body in the ocean and sends the glow from iridescent clothes across the waters. At eventide at the full moon she has her horses running at full speed, pulling the moon behind them.
