VENUS: Love and Beauty
Venus is the Roman goddess of love, beauty and sensuality. She is depicted as a lithe young woman emerging from the waters of life. No matter what your current age or body type, you have an inner Venus that is deeply connected with the life-force energy. If you draw or are drawn to this card, It may be time to reclaim your inner Venus. Start by acknowledging your right to be sensual. Rub your hands across your skin, sending heart-filled care to all of your body parts. Let your mind think of beautiful things. The appreciation of beauty is an inner, soul-based quality. This beautiful goddess represents the inner beauty of which we can all savor. The more you open to any and all beauty around you, the more your inner Venus inspires your thoughts and actions, and makes the world a more beautiful place.
PRACTICE OPPORTUNITY:
Imagine yourself sitting in a warm pool of water. Begin by slowly rotating your lower spine in a circular motion as if you were stirring the water. Stir for a while, then with an inhale begin drawing the energy up from the water into your womb area. Let it circulate around your womb for a while, and then with another inhale draw the energy up to your heart. Visualize the energy blooming in your heart, opening like a flower and spreading love out into the world.
STORIES OF THE GODDESS
While there are my attributes and origins of Venus, she is primarily an embodiment of deep feminine, yin energy. Her sacred month is April, a time when flowers opened, and a woman’s sacred sexual energy could be opened by a skillful and caring lover. She is known as “The changer of hearts,” acknowledging her divine ability as the goddess of love. In some myths of Venus she emerges as a fully sensual adult from the ocean, which speaks to the primordial waters as the womb of all life-force energy on the earth.
