The goddess energy takes the form of a tree spirit (dryad) in cultures all over the world. In this picture we see the mother goddess Tara in her tree form. Tara became known as the goddess of compassion, but she was originally the nurturing green mother of the forests.
In this image Tara takes the form of a Willow tree, drinking in the pain and suffering of tormented souls and transmuting it through compassion in her heart. It is compassion that can soothe the torment in each of us. Like the dryad we can let our caring spiral out from the heart in a universal embrace of all that is in need of healing.
