In the modern world view, the changing of the seasons is a purely physical process, governed by natural laws. We do not see the magic behind it.
In this painting we see an elemental spirit “greening” the earth. Her hands transmit an energy that tells the plants to change their patterns. The land ahead of her, which she has not yet touched, is in winter, while that behind her has come into spring. This is the magic of spring’s arrival.
