In the Ancient European Spiritual traditions the goddess mother was often seen as a tree. Her roots reach down and draw from the primordial oceans, the wellspring of life. Consciousness swirls round and round in this ocean, eventually solidifying into the form of a snake. This snake symbolizes the kundalini flow of life, including the rising sap of the tree.
The goddess mother holds the mystic center in her compassionate heart, while her outer form changes with the cycles of the seasons and the moon. Her being absorbs the solar rays, and together they bring forth and nourish life. She provides the nest and home for all beings, including the birds, which are the special messengers of the spirit world.
