Paravati is a Hindu goddess who was known as "The Daughter of the Mountain". Even as a young girl she was in love with the great god Shiva. At one point in her efforts to win his affection, she became an ascetic, meditating for months to develop her spiritual powers.
In this picture Paravati sits deep in meditation upon her lotus cushion. The solidity of the world around her begins to dissolve, and she becomes more aware of pulsating waves of energy. From her crown chakra she perceives energy streaming forth in geometric patterns from the eye of God. All of her chakras align and open like the lotus itself. Creative energy in the form of the sun and moon streams forth from her hands.
