Dryads are tree nymphs. In this image they are emerging from the oak tree to celebrate the expansion of love in sensual human form. Dryads are the spirit of the tree, a personification of the intelligence and beingness of the tree. The ancient druids would frequently commune with the spirits of the trees, and would grieve when one was cut down.
